Getting to Leukerbad couldn't be easier!


There are a number of daily budget flights to Geneva. The main operators are Easy Jet, Fly Be, BMI, Jet2 and Thompson.

You can also fly to Milan which is a little further but easy to get to.

The new "Fast Track to Valais" a train service through the mountains also makes Zurich, Berne and Basil alternative places to fly into. Below are the approximate traveling times from major cities and towns in the region to Leukerbad;

An easy way from Geneva airport to Leukerbad is by train. The train station is right next to arrivals, and trains leave 27 minutes past the hour and some 47 minutes past the hour. (Please check these times as they may change).

The train stops at Leuk where a bus takes you up the mountain. The whole journey takes c2hours 40 minutes. You can get a ticket straight through to Leukerbad.
If you are travelling with children, you qualify for a family rail card which is free with your ticket, and all children under 16 travels free accompanied with an adult.

An easy way to book your ticket is through the Swiss Travel Centre web site (see below for details). There are a number of ticket options; the most straight forward is a Transfer Ticket which is a return ticket from any Swiss airport to your destination including the bus up the mountain to the village. It is excellent value especially when travelling with children.

By Car

Leukerbad is generally very quiet regarding traffic as the village has no through traffic being located at the end of the valley. There is limited access into the village for cars, with a night time curfew between 10pm and 5am. There are 1350 spaces for cars in public covered car parks. This makes Leukerbad very safe for getting around especially for families. All 3 apartments have secure underground parking.

Ring Jet bus

This bus service leaves the main station every half hour and has 14 stops. It operates daily from 8.30am-6.40pm. It is 3CHF per day or 14CHF for a week. It is a great way of getting around the village.

Local bus service

There are numerous services to all the nearby villages and Leuk railway station.
The service to Leuk station runs at least hourly throughout the day, and connects with the Geneva airport train. Timetables are available at the bus station.

Getting to Edelweiss C11 and Les Naturelles D506 by bus

The bus stop, as you come into Leukerbad which is closest to Les Naturelles and Edelweiss is just past the second right turn and before the roundabout as you enter Leukerbad. When you are leaving the bus stop is on the opposite side of the road next to the car park and it has a bus shelter next to it. These bus stops are around a 5 minute walk to both apartments. Just walk straight along Gribelstrasse to Les Naturelles and Goppenstrasse to Edelweiss C.

Getting to Iris B23 by bus

Arrive in Leukerbad at the bus station (Rathaus) Get on the Ring Jet bus which runs every 30 minutes, and take it the stop outside the "Obere Maressen" chair lift on Obere Maressenstrasse. Iris B23 is a 2minute walk from this stop. Alternatively you could take a taxi from the bus station or walk which will take around 6-8 minutes through the centre of the village. Torrent Cable Car

This is the main cable Station in Leukerbad, and is used to access the main ski areas in the winter and walking and mountaineering trails in the summer. As mentioned earlier it is around a 3 minute walk form both apartments. They run every 30 minutes throughout both seasons, and at peak times in the winter they operate continuously. Tickets are available at the lift office. There are lots of options depending on how often you intend to use the lift. You can also combine your ticket to include the Burgerbad and Alpentherme thermal baths.

Gemmi Cable Car

This is around a 10 minute walk from the apartments and is situated just above the Sport arena at the back of the village. The Cable Car is used for winter hiking, Cross Country Skiing and tobogganing in the winter and walking and hiking in the summer. The views are breathtaking. As with the Torrent, there are several options on purchasing your tickets from the Gemmi lift office. Both lifts have excellent restaurants at the top, with panoramic views of the Swiss Alps and Rhone Valley below.
